How to Install firefox-3.5.5.tar.bz2 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic

- Install firefox 3.5.5.tar.gz2 on Linux Ubuntu (Tested on Ubuntu 9.10)
- Download the new version of firefox then save in /home
- We must remove the old version of firefox,

type : fire then press tab to get suggestion from terminal.
e.q.:
firefox-3.5 - remove firefox
sudo apt-get remove firefox-3.5
- Open terminal,
- Rename plugins folder to make room for the real plugin
sudo su
cd /home
extract firefox to /opt
tar -jxvf firefox-3.5.5.tar.gz2 -C /opt
cd /opt
mv /opt/firefox/plugins/ /opt/firefox/plugins.backup - Create a symbolic link plugins for firefox
ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins/ /opt/firefox/plugins - Create a new command of firefox, you can still run firefox via old shortcut of firefox
dpkg-divert --divert /usr/bin/firefox.ubuntu --rename /usr/bin/firefox - Make a symbolic link to the firefox, so the launcher will launch the new version of firefox
ln -s /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox - Run firefox
firefox
or You can run on Applications >> Internet >> Firefox Web Browser, if firefox shortcut there is no, you can create the new shortcut
Right click >> Create Launcher
Name : Firefox
Command : firefox
Comment : Web Browser of Mozilla Inc.

When I tried to execute the command
# firefox
on console, it came out with an error:
/opt/firefox/run-mozilla.sh: 399: /opt/firefox/firefox-bin: not found

on step 5, we will create a short cut to run firefox. the name of shortcut is firefox.
please type:
firefox
on your terminal to run firefox.
the command that is executed without "$ or #",
how to uninstall it??

If you want to uninstal it, please make sure your firefox version.
open terminal:
type : fire
then press "tab" to get suggestion of terminal
It will be like this, if you have been using ubuntu 9.10:
firefox-3.5
then go to remove:
sudo apt-get remove firefox-3.5
how to uninstall it manually?
1. open terminal,
2. check the command line of your firefox,
type : fire then press tab to get suggestion of the terminal,
e.q:
$ fire
when you press tab, it will be firefox-3.5 or whatever, It depend on your firefox version,
ex: we get firefox-3.5 as suggestion of terminal
3. let's uninstall it
sudo apt-get remove firefox-3.5
