Easy Ways to Install VirtualBox 3.0.12 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic

VirtualBox is an application that works on Linux operating System and It has functional to installed a operating system in Linux Operating System. Virtual Box is made by SUN. SUN VirtualBox is the best virtual machine on linux Operating System. and We as a user don't need to consider must format HDD. This article will share How to install Sun VirtualBox 3.0.12 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic. We have 2 ways installation, you can choose one of 2 ways. Make sure You have connected on internet or local repository of Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic.
- Download VirtualBox
Open your terminal, press Alt + F2 and typegnome-terminal
cd /home
Download for i386
wget http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/3.0.12/virtualbox-3.0_3.0.12-54655_Ubuntu_karmic_i386.deb
Download for AMD64
wget http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/3.0.12/virtualbox-3.0_3.0.12-54655_Ubuntu_karmic_amd64.deb - How to install Sun VirtualBox version 1 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic,
- Starting the installation of Sun VirtualBox for i386 and AMD64
- Install virtualbox 3.0.12
For i386
sudo dpkg -i virtualbox-3.0_3.0.12-54655_Ubuntu_karmic_i386.deb
For AMD64
sudo dpkg -i virtualbox-3.0_3.0.12-54655_Ubuntu_karmic_amd64.deb
follow it's instructions until finish
If the installation is successful, let's run our virtualbox. Yuhuuuu.^^
Applications >> System Tools >> Sun VirtualBox
or run via terminal:VirtualBox
If you get trouble when install vbox, make sure the dependencies of vbox have installed. Note: follow this instruction if you get trouble when installing vbox
please open your terminal:
sudo apt-get install -f
Vbox will be installed automatically after The installation of dependencies have finished. Please wait in a second.
Run the virtualbox:
Applications >> System Tools >> Sun VirtualBox
or run via terminal:VirtualBox
- Install virtualbox 3.0.12
- How to install Sun VirtualBox version 2 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic,
in version 2, We don't need to download the vbox, cos We only edit sources.list and run the installation process on terminal.- Edit sources.list
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
Add one of the following lines according to your distribution to your /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian karmic non-free
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian jaunty non-free
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian intrepid non-free
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian hardy non-free
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian gutsy non-free

deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian sarge non-free
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian xandros4.0-xn non-free - Download and add The Sun public key for apt-secure via terminal
wget http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/sun_vbox.asc
sudo apt-key add sun_vbox.asc - Install VirtualBox
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-3.0
