How to Install Google Chrome on Ubuntu Linux | Karmic, Jaunty, Intrepid

Google Chrome is a web browser that is made by Google Inc. It is claimed fast, safe to surfing on the cyber worl.Except that, Google chrome guarantees the security for user. You can install web browser made by Google on your Ubuntu Linux. This article will explain how to install Google Chrome web browser on Ubuntu Karmic, Jaunty, and Intrepid Ibex. I don't issue any guarantee, it will work for you.

You have to add sources of Google Chrome web browser into sources.list from your Ubuntu OS:

$ sudo pico /etc/apt/sources.list


1. Add the following two lines for Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic
   
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu karmic main



2. Add the following two lines for Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope
   
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main



3. Add the following two lines for Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex
   
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

   
4. Press combination of Ctrl+x to save the configuration

After add the sources of Google Chrome, we have to add the GPG key and start the installation of Google Chrome web browser for Ubuntu.

1. Add the GPG key of Google Chrom via terminal
   
$ sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 0xfbef0d696de1c72ba5a835fe5a9bf3bb4e5e17b5



2. Update the source list using the following command
   
$ sudo apt-get update



3. Install chromium or Google Chrome web browser using the following command
   
$ sudo apt-get install chromium-browser


If The Installation is successful, you can use Google Chrome on Applications >> Internet >> Web Browsers Chromium. Enjoy it./JoeEngressia
